Day number 9!! We are almost done with this 10 part series and today’s post is a fun one! I had all these plans that I would have my office cleaned, pictures taken, and somehow transformed into exactly what I wanted, but it is busy season and that’s just not happening!
Today’s tip is to make your office a place you want to be.
When I first started my business, I really had no money to put into furniture of decorations for the office. I used my husband’s old desk and our extra dining room table to work on. Thankfully I had a spare bedroom where I could set everything up, but it was still not ideal. I dreamed of the day when I could get a crisp white desk and have everything organized at my fingertips.
That day came! I found a desk at iKea that I loved. The only problem was that I live nowhere near iKea. I had planned on going to a Business Boutique conference in Atlanta, and luckily there is an iKea there! I brought home a desk and a printer stand and I am thrilled how they both turned out!
Here are a few practical ways that I keep my office a place that I want to be:
- Organizing every week. I’ve talked before about the Sunday Basket system, but it really is how I stay organized! Basically, all of your paperwork goes to one place. Every Sunday I go through every piece of paper and see what has to get accomplished that week and I put the task on my planner and keep out anything that I will need. I feel so much better when I have a grip on everything that is due!
- Find a comfy chair. I upgrade my office chair to this one from Wayfair (Right now it’s on sale for $82!!!). I can sit all day no problem and have back issues at all! This is key when you’re working a desk job 🙂
- Keep a quote around. I have a few quotes around my office on stationary type paper that I’ve purchased several places. Lindsay Letters is one of my favorite places to find things like this.
What does your office look like? Are there any small things you can do to make your workspace more function to make it a place that you want to work? Let me know in the comments!
I promise I will do my best to get some pictures of what the space looks like. 🙂
